Hmmm…This is an interesting article about a Super Bowl advertisement contest that a California mega church may win. I have really appreciated what the pastor of this church has said and written (I have carried his teaching Bible around for a day after he forgot it on stage @ a local festival, before hand delivering it), but I’m not sure what kind of faith we are working to represent in this one. Would be interested to hear your thoughts.
As Shaine Claiborne would say(and I paraphrase), “Jesus didn’t call Christians to be relevant…He called them to be peculiar.”
Relevant. I always thought Mosiac was a pretty legit community. If I could would I write a superbowl commercial? Sure. It's not the extent of our ministry, but why not? "A church wrote that?" Is a pretty cool question. Just this morning I read about some missionaries who were trying to take Haitian kids out of Haiti…uh, good thought, now you're in jail for human trafficking; bad image. Commercial; peculiar in a relevant way.
How was the coffee?
now were talking…good points. i'm with you, Mosiac does and represents alot of good stuff. and quite honestly, that commercial looks pretty darn funny. does it proclaim the good news of the Kingdom of God, while riding the back of organizations that do some pretty shady stuff?? not sure…i suppose it at least deserves a second thought. not that i can point fingers, pretty sure i will be supporting them too by turning on my TV on Sunday. for now, i need to go eat some Dorito's:)
Coffee = Life Changing.
